University area kept free of traffic
(China Daily)
Updated: 2005-04-13 09:55

Songjiang District, a campus town of Shanghai where many key universities lie, has a new regulation forbidding private cars to pass through the major roads there, Shanghai Morning Post reports.

The reason for the regulation is traffic congestion during peak hours along major roads there. Cars and bicycles are major vehicles students use to go to school.

In consideration of the safety of students and smooth operation of public transportation, the traffic administration decided no cars should be driven.
